Schleppboote von Chalkida | Die Schleppboote an der Anlegestelle auf der Festlandseite der Stadt Chalkida. Chalkida (Χαλκίδα) ist die Hauptstadt der der griechischen Insel Euböa (Εύβοια). Chalkida erstreckt sich über beide Seiten der Meeresstraße Euripos (Εύριπος), welche zwischen dem griechischen Festland und der Insel Euböa liegt. Die Meerenge ist an der engsten Stelle nur 40 Meter breit und gilt als schmalste Meerenge der Welt. Eine Besonderheit der Meerenge sind die wechselnden Gezeitenströmungen. Die regulären Gezeitenströmungen wechseln alle 6 Stunden die Richtung. Zwei mal pro Mondmonat treten die irregulären Strömungen auf, die bis zu vierzehn mal am Tag die Richtung wechseln.
